About the project

The Department of Paediatric Rehabilitation at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children is establishing a steering group to inform how its rehabilitation programs are developed and delivered for children with disabilities who have complex needs. 

Princess Margaret Hospital wants to make sure that families are involved in developing this service to make sure children and adolescents receive the best care possible.

About the position

Princess Margaret Hospital is looking for 8 consumers/community members to join a steering group as a consumer representative.

What am I expected to do?

The consumers/community members of the steering group will:

  • Provide a “lived- experience” perspective on being involved in rehabilitation programs
  • Review documents relating to the development of the service, for example proposals
  • Contribute ideas and perspective important to the development and running of a rehabilitation service
  • Participate in activities of the group
  • Be willing to answer questions as they arise throughout the project

What skills or experience do I need?

You need to be either:

A parent, guardian or primary carer of a child with a disability with complex care needs, who is currently or has previously received care through Paediatric Rehabilitation at Princess Margaret Hospital.

A young adult (16-24years) with a disability who has received services through Paediatric Rehabilitation at Princess Margaret Hospital.

What is the time commitment?

One year. There will be eight meetings throughout the 12 month time period. The first meeting will be held in August, 2017.

Department of Paediatric Rehabilitation,Princess Margaret Hospital, Subiaco, WA.

What support is offered?

$30 honorarium per hour for meetings attended. Expenses related to parking will also be covered. Free training and mentoring is offered by the Consumer and Community Health Research Network.
