About the position

The Australian College of Critical Care Nurses (ACCCN) is the professional organisation representing critical care nurses in Australia. They are currently undertaking a revision of the ACCCN Position Statement on critical care nurse education that is now more than 10 years old. The Position Statement is widely used to inform education programs for nurses working in intensive care or coronary care units and also guides postgraduate university programs.

We are looking for two consumers/community members to provide input into this Position Statement.

What am I expected to do?

The consumers/community members will:

  • Provide a “lived- experience” perspective on being in intensive or coronary care
  • Review the draft document to make sure the patient and family perspective is included on the provision of critical care nurse education
  • Be willing to answer questions as they arise

What skills or experience do I need?

You need to be either:

  • Someone who has been in an intensive or coronary care unit as a patient
  • Had a family member who has been in an intensive or coronary care unit

What is the time commitment?

Two months.

Where will meetings be held?

Via email.

What support is offered?

Hourly rate of $40 is offered. Free training and mentoring is offered by the Consumer and Community Health Research Network.
