The University of Western Australia's School of Population and Global Health is looking for two community members to join it's Consumer and Community Advisory Council. If you would like to have input into the research and teaching undertaken at the School, we want to hear from you!

About the Advisory Council

The Advisory Council works with the School of Population and Global Health (School) to develop partnerships in which consumers, community members, academics and students work together to make decisions about health research priorities, policy, practice and teaching.

What am I expected to do?

  • Provide a consumer and community perspective on research and teaching undertaken at the School
  • Provide access to relevant community networks
  • Advocate on behalf of the community
  • Advise on the disseminationof research results and translation into policy and practice
  • Feedback on strategic planning and governance structures within the School

What skills or experience do I need?

  • Links to the community
  • Ability to contribute at a strategic level on a committee
  • Have an interest in, or experience of child health and wellbeing
  • Respect and adhere to confidentiality requirements
  • Respect the views of all other members
  • It is desirable that applicants can demonstrate:
    • Understanding of consumer and community involvement in research
    • Committee experience

What is the time commitment?

Two years; the Advisory Council meets four times per year (next meeting will be held Monday 18th September 4 - 5.30pm) 

Where will meetings be held?

Meetings will be held at the School of Population and Global Health (Clifton Street Building), UWA, Nedlands.

What support is offered?

A $30 honorarium per hour for meetings attended is offered. Free training and mentoring is also offered by the Consumer and Community Health Research Network.
